I recently purchased and read two very inspirational books by rug hookers that I want to reccomend to guid members.
The first is a new book by Doris Eaton, A Lifetime of Rug-Hooking which is now out in paperback. Dorris is an amazing woman and hooker. Her text not only tells her history and the history of hooking in Nova Scotia, but gives the reader an insight into her creative process. A lovely book and an enjoyable read.
The second book is also by a Canadian artist, Deanne Fitzpartrick, titlted Inspired Rug-Hooking. Deanne weaves her life into the stories of her rugs and in the same manner as Doris Eaton gives the reader many artistic thoughts to consider. I loved the way I could read a chapter and then reflect on my own life and my own rug hooking.
No surprise that Doris chose Deanne to write the foward to her book and BEST of all our own Judith Delegret is given special kudos from Doris.
Each of these books are lovely ways to pass a cold afternoon curled up in bed.
Have you read them? What other books inspire you?
